Pretraining

Preets – Pre-eating before going to a pre-tentious restaurant in an attempt to save money.

In some ways training for any sporting event is much like revising for an exam. The more revision the easier the test. But, of course, the proper way to revise is over a long time, allowing it all to soak in. The other way is to train like a teenager preparing for a night out; drinking so much alcohol before leaving the house that the night ends in a vomit covered mess.

But this time its going to be different.

I’m doing the Great North Run on the 9th September. I’ve done a few half marathons before. PB is just inside 1:30 from Redcar half. The Garmin race time predictor on my watch says 1:26:18, so I’d say that 1:25 is the target if training goes well.

Volume-wise I ran 49km this week, which is moderate. I hoped to be at more like 70km.
